Run Leagues & Tournaments For Free

No monthly fee. No contract. Just a simple $5 per registration fee that keeps the platform running.

How it works

The Free plan gives you everything you need to run leagues and tournaments — scheduling, brackets, live scoring, standings, push notifications, Smart TV displays, and integrated Stripe payments — all at $0 per month.

Instead of a monthly subscription, Picklebeast charges a $5 platform fee per registration. This fee covers the technology, hosting, payment processing infrastructure, and ongoing development.

You control who pays. For both the platform fee and the Stripe processing fee, you choose whether the club absorbs it or the player pays it. Mix and match however you like.

Two fees, each independently configurable

There are two fees on every registration. For each one, you decide: does the club absorb it, or does the player pay it?

Picklebeast platform fee — $5

Club absorbs: Build it into your price. Picklebeast invoices you monthly (net-30).

Player pays: Keep your price as-is. The player sees a $5 service fee at checkout.

Stripe processing fee — 2.9% + $0.30

Club absorbs: Stripe’s fee is deducted from your payout. The player pays your listed price.

Player pays: The processing fee is added to the player’s total at checkout.

Mix and match. For example, you could absorb the platform fee but pass the Stripe fee to the player — or have the player pay both. It’s entirely up to you.

Example: Club absorbs both fees

Your league costs $80 to register. You set the price to $85 on Picklebeast to cover the platform fee. Stripe’s processing fee comes out of your payout.

Amount
Player pays $85.00
Stripe processing (2.9% + $0.30) -$2.77
Picklebeast platform fee -$5.00
You receive $77.23

The platform fee is invoiced to you monthly (net-30). Your Stripe payout includes the full $85 minus Stripe’s processing fee.

Example: Player pays both fees

Your league costs $80 to register. You set the price to $80. The player sees the platform fee and Stripe fee added at checkout.

Amount
Registration price $80.00
Platform fee (shown to player) +$5.00
Stripe processing (shown to player) +$2.77
Player pays total $87.77
You receive $80.00

When the player pays both fees, you receive exactly your listed registration price.

Example: Mix and match

You can also split it — for example, absorb the platform fee but pass the Stripe fee to the player.

Amount
Registration price (includes platform fee) $85.00
Stripe processing (shown to player) +$2.77
Player pays total $87.77
Picklebeast platform fee -$5.00
You receive $82.77

Frequently asked questions

Is the Free plan really free?

Yes. There is no monthly fee, no setup fee, and no contract. The only cost is the $5 per registration fee when players sign up for your leagues and tournaments.

Can I use the Free plan for court reservations or coaching?

Court reservations, coaching, membership management, and other facility features require the Growth plan ($299/mo) or higher. The Free plan is designed specifically for clubs that only need leagues and tournaments.

What if I want to add more features later?

You can upgrade to Growth, Pro, or Elite at any time. Your leagues, tournaments, and member data carry over seamlessly. Paid plans include a 30-day free trial.

Can I control who pays the Stripe processing fee too?

Yes. Both the $5 platform fee and the Stripe processing fee (2.9% + $0.30) are independently configurable. You can absorb either, both, or neither — it’s entirely your choice.

How does the $5 fee compare to other platforms?

Most league and tournament platforms charge a per-registration fee in a similar range. The difference is that Picklebeast includes Smart TV displays, push notifications, and a full mobile app experience — features that other platforms charge monthly for.

Is the $5 fee per player or per team?

Per registration. If one player registers for a league, that’s one $5 fee. If a team of 4 registers, that’s four $5 fees (one per player registration).

Do I need a Stripe account?

Yes. Stripe Connect is required to accept registration payments. Setting up Stripe is part of the onboarding process and takes about 10 minutes.
